Fitness Trackers – Waves Tracker App (tutorial)

In this blog post, I would like to talk about how to get WavesTracker going with a Fitness Tracker. And to do it, some assumptions will be made, that your watch can export GPX, TCX, or FIT files and can record an activity continuously using its GPS with 1-sec intervals (receives GPS data every second).

To download the mobile app use the Play Store.

You will use the watch’s activity tracker to record your surf session. For example, while using my TomTom Spark 3 the activity I have selected is called Freestyle – keep in mind that each and every watch is different

When you are at the beach about to go surfing do the following:
1) Start your activity tracker and go surfing; enable the water lock mode if one is available on your watch.
2) When you have finished surfing, deactivate the water lock and stop recording the activity.

Lastly, you will use our web app to upload your surf session.
1) Export a FIT, GPX, or TCX file of your activity *.
2) Upload the FIT, GPX, or TCX – use the “Watch” tab and tap on the “Fitness Tracker” button.
*Note: Each watch has a different “export” procedure, but most have settled for putting it under ‘Share‘ or a ‘Cog‘.

The surf session data is then processed immediately and you will be able to see the results in your “feed” and “history” tabs on the mobile app.
